Kby police bust suspected drug dealer during foot patrol

Tik, with an estimated street value of R323 675 was found in the back-pack of a suspect who was caught after attempting to flee from police officers.

This happened on Monday when members of the Crime Prevention unit were performing foot patrols in the CBD of Kimberley.

At about 12:10, while police members were patrolling in the vicinity of New Park, they spotted people loitering at the back of a business.

Capt. Tessa Jansen, police communication officer, said when the members approached the group, one of the men started retreating before he turned around and ran.

The police members gave chase and as they were chasing the suspect, a community member stopped and offered a lift to one of the members in pursuing the suspect.

The suspect was apprehended and his bag searched. A plastic bag with ten smaller plastic bags containing tik, was found.

The suspect was arrested and charged for dealing in drugs. He will appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court soon.
